Simon Martineau is a french guitarist from Pays de Loire who lives in Paris since 2006. He has been active on the french jazz scene since then, regularly performing in various clubs and festivals, leading his own group as well as participating to others as a sideman. Initially strongly influenced by Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane or Jim Hall, his singular style also feeds on more contemporary inspirations in jazz and other forms of improvised music. Sometimes dissonant and tricky, his guitar play is animated by a constant search for simplicity, with an ever-present sense of melody.
